Oh, hey there!  I'm Jenna - owner of Jenna James Photography.  Thanks SO much for dropping by.

I'm 29 years old, with a creative eye that has been kicking around since a young age.  Ironically, my full time job is not in the arts at all.  I hold a full time career in animal nutrition, where my highly scientific based self shines!  Honestly guys, my love for animals is actually unexplainable.  I often say I like animals more than I like people, and though it might be true, I still am a people person - don't worry!  Here is the cue to introduce my fur baby - Ron.  As you follow me on my social media outlets, you'll quickly learn that he is an intricate part of my life! Ron is a 3 year old Brittany Spaniel who loves birds and is ALWAYS keeping us busy.

You might not learn this from following me, but I have a fabulous partner.  He's not the social media type, so rarely shows up on my socials.  Fraser and I have been together for 6 years, and celebrated our wedding in August of 2023.  He's so kind, hardworking and incredibly patient.  We bought our home together in 2019 just outside of the tiny town, Dornoch.  Since that May, we have been slowly renovating the house room by room.  I'm so thankful for Fraser's trade background as a plumber to be able to do all of the work (or most anyway!).  He is also a fabulous photog assistant - you may just meet him at a session!  We welcomed our beautiful baby girl, Blaire, this April.  She is incredible and easily the best thing that has happened to us!

Since a young age, I've been able to recognize my passion for creative arts.  I used to spend hours and hours in my grandmother's basement painting.  She was an incredible artist, and some of her work can be found in my house today!  I take so much pride in the things I am capable of when it comes to creativity.  But I never found that one thing that was effortlessly enjoyable.  And then my guy bought me a camera for Christmas (because I was ALWAYS complaining how handy a "good" camera would be everywhere we went).  Overwhelmed that you couldn't just press a button and get a good picture, I started practicing while taking pictures of family, friends and my pets.  I started to get the hang of things in this so called manual mode, and was getting some decent results!  Then a few friends asked me to do ACTUAL shoots of them.  And let me tell you, I LOVED IT.  

 

I've been improving my craft and the entire business concept over the last two and a half years.  I've found my style and those sessions I love to capture.  My goal with my photography is to capture the connections you and your loved ones share, and express that through my art.  I love capturing candid moments, and using all the prompts to REALLY express the dynamic of you and your loved ones.  I'm a huge fan of out of the ordinary sessions, and always, always, ALWAYS up for an adventure.
